A Relaxed Wedding At Rivervale Barn – Nicci & Lloyd’s Fabulously Fun Wedding

Rivervale Barn, located on the Berkshire/Hampshire border and managed by Galloping Gourmet, really is a fantastic wedding venue. It’s still relatively new and so was designed with weddings most firmly in mind yet the ceremony barn itself has a real ‘churchy’ atmosphere about it. I also love the fact that there’s a separate space for the reception so, if you’re planning a fun and elegant wedding, Rivervale Barn is the venue for you!
It was most definitely right for Nicci and Lloyd who wanted their July 2015 wedding to be relaxed and laid back with the focus firmly on the fun! A simple, stylish affair needed florals that were both romantic and timeless with a touch of contemporary chic.
We worked with a colour palette of ivory and blush pink with hints of peach. Texture was also very much part of the floral scheme so we chose blooms that all brought something to the party – peonies, roses, carnations, and dahlias among others.
Nicci’s bouquet was a hand-tied arrangement featuring roses and some soft fern foliage that added a gentle movement to the textured bouquet. The bridesmaids also carried hand-tied bouquets and we stuck to ivory shades so that the flowers would be visible against their pretty pale dresses.
That fabulous ceremony room at Rivervale Barn is the ultimate blank canvas and we kept it clean and uncluttered with stylish silver lanterns and ivory pillar candles that were all softened slightly by the fresh roses petals that we added at the very last minute!
The light and bright look continued into the reception where the guest tables were adorned with compact dome arrangements, again featuring those wonderful textured blooms, set in raised glass column vases.
We were clever with our top table decorations for this wedding and just used the bridal party’s bouquets as decorations. I prepared simple glass vases for the table and the bouquets were popped into them after the ceremony and photographs. This is a great way to use your budget sensibly and it keeps your wedding look consistent throughout your day.
Rivervale Barn most certainly is one of my favourite wedding venues and oh my goodness, this was a brilliant wedding. Nicci and Lloyd celebrated with their friends and family and it’s clear that everyone enjoyed every minute of this fun-filled wedding as much as I did. Photographer Graham Nixon has captured the essence of the day perfectly.
Finally, let me just say – that cake! A true showstopper if I ever saw one!
Love, Tarnia x
