Classic Romance At Gate Street Barn – Mollie & Lewis’s Delightful Wedding

by | Jul 28, 2016

Barn weddings will always have a special place in my heart and as a wedding florist; I love the creativity that they bring. I also adore working with couples that come to me with an idea for a special project and when I first met Mollie and Lewis to talk about their wedding at Gate Street Barn in Hampshire, it was wonderful to hear of something very special that they wanted to create for their wedding…

Mollie and Lewis came to their initial consultation with a picture of a driftwood centrepiece that they loved but simply couldn’t find. From that moment, I knew I wanted to help them and began sourcing the materials to have these fabulous decorations made. As you can see from these images, the result is ten absolutely stunning driftwood candelabra that can be dressed with flowers and LED candles. Nothing is impossible when it comes to weddings!

The overall look and feel for the wedding day was very much one of classic romance with a few rustic touches that really suited the beautiful Gate Street Barn. The barn itself is build from oak trees that were brought down on the farm in the 1987 hurricane so our driftwood decorations were completely in keeping with the venue!

The candelabra were decorated with ivory and peach roses, white lilies and orchids and masses of foliage were added to the giant suspended chandeliers. Extra light was provided on the tables with a soft peach LED candles and these are so effective, perfect for venues where traditional candles aren’t allowed.

The buttonholes were again a mix of peach and ivory roses and Lewis’s double buttonhole was a fantastic touch. Mollie carried a traditional teardrop shape bouquet, again in the colours of the day, which worked so well with her gown. The bridesmaids’ handtied bouquets could not have been sweeter and the peach roses were exquisite.

One of my favourite touches were the photos of Mollie and Lewis that adorned the tables – I know the guests certainly enjoyed taking a peek at the couple’s baby photos!

It was such a joy working with Mollie and Lewis and their wedding photos completely capture their amazing personalities. I’d like to thank them for allowing me to be a part of their day and for trusting me with their driftwood dream.

Love
